The fingerprint sensor was working fine until Windows updated the driver about a week ago. Tuesday, October 7, 3: I’m running on Ultimate Vista 64bit. I have tried all the other drivers on this thread, but nothing happens and Windows ultimately automatically updates the driver anyway to the new one! This was before I installed the new drivers from HP site.

Thanks Deathpong this worked for me, just roll back the driver, to easy. Friday, October 31, 1: Windows indicates that the reader is installed and working properly and that the drivers are up to date. Even after reinstalling it all it still won’t recognize.

I have even gone to the DigitalPersona website aess2501a found nothing. I had the same thing happen, and determined that you have to go back to an earlier version of the Authentec driver to make it work. By auuthentec to browse this site, you agree to this use. There is a brand new driver available from Windows Update, but it doesn’t work.
However, it is unresponsive and the preinstalled program doesnt recognize it.
AuthenTec AESA fingerprint reader isnt recognized
I even tried removing and finding again the device from device manager and all went well, but DigitalPersona Personal kept saying that fingerprint reader isn’t connected. Tuesday, October 28, I have a HP DVt notebook and the reader is inside the chassis, so removing it isnt really an option. Monday, November 10, You can find it on the HP Website.

I have disable, deleted and reinstalled, everything. Sunday, November 23, 1: I installed the optional Authentec Ase2501a update and it caused my fingerprint reader to stop working. I went to the device manager and rolled back the driver, it is working fine now.
I have the excact same problem, but none of the topics from the link are relevant in my opinion. The same thing happened after and before installing SP1 for Vista.
