Monday, October 6, Microsoft would disable this update before launch a fixed one, since this is causing many issues. I’m running on Ultimate Vista 64bit. Thursday, October 23, 6: Articles about Microsoft Fingerprint Reader: I installed the optional Authentec AESA fista and it caused my fingerprint reader to stop working.
I even tried removing and finding again the device from device manager and all went well, but DigitalPersona Personal kept saying that fingerprint reader isn’t connected. Sunday, October 12, 1: I would go straight to the Device Manager and Rollback, but the option is greyed out.
Windows indicates that the reader is installed and working properly and that the drivers are up to aes2501s. This was before I installed the new drivers from HP site. Even after reinstalling it all authentc still won’t recognize.
Let us know what yopu find. I can still see the update in update history and it says the authentdc failed. I had the same thing happen, and determined that you have to go back to an earlier version of the Authentec driver to make it work.

Just remember to remove the old driver first. I have tried all of the above as well. I have no freaking clue as to why this is now happening.
