I’ve gone to the device manager and looked for the sound option or audio, sound, or video controllers but it does not appear at all nor does it come up under “other options”. This driver Realtek downloaded and installed, but no effect. The device has a Conexant High Definition Smart Audio set of drivers for it downloaded from HP’s site and installed , but nothing is working. Follow the steps in the link and it may help. I also read through all of these threads but don’t see a solution that works.
And when i restart, the volume bar says no audio hardware installed. Install the device driver Sound using the compatibility mode and check if that helps in fixing the issue. BTW the name realtek is awfully familiar I think this is it and I am getting close, but I can’t find it in the device manager to disable and re-enable!!!!
The issue might be due to corrupt or incompatible device drivers, or drivers audo conflict with other third party programs installed in the system. Tried going back and restoring to last week, didn’t help.

This topic has been locked due to inactivity for a long period of time. Refinition this didn’t help. This is a VERY annoying and apparently wide-spread issue with older machines so I have read that worries me about a successful launch of Windows 10 this did not occur until later builds.

[Solved] Conexant HD Audio Drivers for Windows 10 – Driver Easy
I restarted my computer to install the conexany and my computer comes back with no speakers. Message 34 of I too have an HP Pavilion Dv6. Same issue, no luck.

DV is the series. Information and links in this thread may no longer be available hogh relevant. After many of his hours and many of my dollars, I still have no sound except that some of the keys “beep” when hit. Some of the drivers don’t have a little X for uninstall next to them, just ignore them definitioh do the ones that do have an X. Thanks to rchambers, you are a star! This acts as another sound card so just install it with CD and its ready to go. I see a lot of people post problems on this site does anyone ever get an answer?
When trying to uninstall the Codex driver, nothing happens. I heard a solution that worked was installing windows XP sound drivers. Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver ftp: I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue.
