Tommy Doyle was taking things quietly in his rebuilt Clio R3, determined to finish in good shape for the opening Dunlop Championship counter mzrie Ballina, but his Clio under steered off the road in a stage 6 square left when lying 9th.
Just what sort of character he was at 21 is hard to imagine! The event will be televised by Sport Vision, same as the other Tarmac rounds. A phone call back to Moponey Evans in service supplied a quick fix.
The Birr stages raly of quite classic asphalt roads in places, and were always going to be challenging. Hetherington so wants to do well on the Fivemiletown event, but has nothing but bad luck on that rally!

Almost certainly the top seed will be current Champion Declan Boyle in his Subaru. Mollney honoured we were to be in the company of this man over what was a truly memorable weekend. The effort and the hurdles to be overcome were enormous. He was often in the top three stage times of what was a huge and competitive class, but punctures and a spin deprived him of a good result and a meaningful points moliney. Even the sun shone as the Cavalcade made its way through the spectator lined route to Belfast City Hall, with police cars and motor cycle escorts closing off the roads to other traffic through the city centre.

Looking further ahead, the Dunlop National Championship rolls into action one week further on with the Mayo Stages at Ballina. Hugh Hunter was then molomey in front. Unauthorised duplication is a violation of applicable laws. Desi Henry, winner of the opening Valvoline Championship rally in Clonmel, was well placed in the top six on stage times. It will be well worth watching.
